Launched in 2021, gift flick is an e-commerce plug-in for online retailers that allows customers to purchase gifts and immediately notify the recipient via a personalized video message, (the gift itself is seamlessly integrated into the video).
The recipient receives the message ahead of the product arriving in the mail via the platform of the user’s choice, including sms, whatsapp or email.
One of the chief benefits of gift flick is the ability for retailers to extend their sales window during seasonal events. Customers continue to purchase gifts after shipping deadlines have closed in the knowledge that their loved ones will see what gift is coming.
It is currently available at a range of retailers including Country Road, David Jones and Kitchen Warehouse with more brands to come.
Finder’s expert judging panel praised gift flick for its high level of personalisation, calling it “a clever solution to making gift-giving more personal in the ecommerce age.”
Its high number of partner sign ups was singled out by judges as particularly impressive.
While personalized online gifts are nothing new, they have primarily involved digital products such as e-vouchers and digital gift cards. By applying the same concept to physical goods, gift flick is enabling retailers to unlock an untapped market.
“Personalisation is the future and this product reflects that shift,” remarked one judge.
